Cherry Blossom Cake

This post is ridiculously overdue, I apologize to Elise who has been waiting months for me to post this ;-) But this is hands down, one of my top favorite cakes, maybe even my favorite I'm not sure. It is in fact a birthday cake, not a wedding cake but when you turn eighteen you can have a three tiered cake :-) We went to Kobe's for dinner and the cake matched the restaraunt! I spent maybe a week making all of the flowers plus extras. The happy birthday sign was a last minute edition because I thought the cake needed something, it was just a piece of gumpaste that I hand-painted with food coloring but I like it :-) I have no idea what the red thing is so don't ask, it just looks really fun.

Sushi Pop!

If you have ever been to the most wonderfully delicious sushi restaraunt in the universe known as Sushi Pop in Oviedo you must, because you are missing out on happiness in fish form. Also you will understand this cake a little better. This cake was made for the owners of the restaraunt, and the design was inspired by the awesomeness of it. It was fun because I got to make a really modern and bright design on the side which I haven't really done before. I also enjoyed making little fondant pieces of sushi! :-D

Baby Cakes!

I adore these! I made them for two beautiful new-born baby twins, Michael and Aiden :-) (I misspelled Aiden on the cakes :-O) But I had oodles of fun making the little baby accessories! Everything was done completely in fondant and was painted with food coloring. I also used my nifty little food coloring markers to do a lot of the designs. I think the rattle cake is my favorite :-)

Pool Table Cake

Not my favorite, but still kind of cute :-) This was a very last minute cake, and it is very shiny! (too much water in the fondant)

Flower Pot Cake

Transportation was a pain in the rear end for this one but it was worth it. (Fragile fondant flowers riding in a bumpy car for 3 hours almost gave me heart failure!) I think I made about 20,000 extra leaves just in case (yay for green tounges :-P) The fondant was tricky because the shape of the cake is so wonky but I covered it all up with chocolate graham cracker dirt anyway ;-) I think this is definitely one of the prettiest birthday cakes ever!

Poker Cake

This one was so much fun! I made this gambling cake for my grandpa Miguel (complete with a cuban cigar) I'm really happy with the cards, they were fondant painted with food coloring. The dice, chips and all the little extras were also made with fondant. I absolutely adore this one!

Princess Cake

This was a last minute one and I wish I could have spent more time on it so there's a lot of details I'm not happy with, I made it in a few hours the night before. It was for my friends birthday, and it's a very out of proportion princess on a castle :-) The towers are ice cream cones covered in fondant and all the black details are painted in food coloring.

iPhone Cake

This one was fun! It was for my Dad's birthday and we got him the iPhone4 so I made the cake an iPhone theme! It was tres leches which is possibly the most delicious cake ever and if you don't think so you are wrong :-) I made the apps secretly a little at a time the weeks before I made the actual cake, and they were hidden around the kitchen :-P

Gator Cake!

I love this cake so much! I was actually depressed to cut it, but maybe that's because it looks like you're murdering an animal.....note to self, no more cute animal cakes. Oh well, at least it wasn't red velvet :-P I made it for my BFF because she got into UF and it was her high school graduation. Her high school colors were black, red and white that's why the hat and diploma and sign aren't blue and orange. The head and tail were made from rice crispy treats and the legs are pure fondant. The body was a separate piece so it's sort of frankensteinish and I covered it all in fondant so it looks put together. I transported this in a 3 hour car ride :-O Scariest thing ever!!!!! She made it safely with only a little bit of damage :-)

Easter Cake #2

This cake was made two Easters ago and I made it for my church. I used buttercream because some people find fondant icky and I just wanted to be safe. However I despise buttercream because its sticky and melts and it doesn't keep as long so this is a one time thing. The only fondant is the cross, then I painted it with food coloring. I made some icky buttercream roses (I really dont like buttercream!) and little yellow flowers and leaves, none with fondant :-( the basketweave was kind of fun but pretty painstaking after a while.

Easter Cake #1

Not my absolute favorite but It was so much fun because my little cousins helped! the credit goes to Sammie for designing it herself! She was very specific actually. She also painted all the flowers and the little eggs! My little cake apprentice :-)

First Communion Cake

Woo Hoo! I now have more photos! (thank you Titi Liz!) It's possibly one of my favorite one's I have ever done. It was for my sisters first communion. I made little fondant wafers, a cross, grapes (the grape leaves were pretty gosh darn awesome if I do say so myself!), a loaf of bread and a cup. The cup was filled with piping gel (a sort of clear/transparent icing) that I colored purple. I love this one!

Calla Lily Cake

This was for my Mom's birthday, her favorite flowers are Calla lilies so I made some fondant ones. I used a terra cotta sort of ish colored fondant and I painted the designs with black food coloring and just made a simple buttercream border. (More interestingly it was almond joy flavored! Chocolate cake with coconut in the middle and almonds!)

Luau Cake

This cake was for my Birthday (yes, I made my own cake because I'm a control freak), it was a luau sort of thing so it kind of reminds me of those Orangy/Redishy/Yellowishy popsicles. I got kind of lazy at the end so I decorated it with drink umbrellas. I was going to make fondant ones but eh, I didn't want to :-) It was pretty simple though, I just covered the cake in white fondant and painted the entire cake in an easter egg like fashion. Then I cut out flowers and BAM luau cake!
